Morning Coffee with a side of drooling

I am currently enjoying my morning coffee and drooling over this beautiful space. It's awesome, right?!! I'm in love!!

I love this design so much that I wanted to understand why I loved it so much. What was it that was drawing me to this room, what makes it work SO well? To answer these questions I decided to dissect the design, here is what that looks like...

Here are some additional design break downs that I really feel draw me into this room;

1. Velvet is a very cozy fabric as are the plush pillow fabrics.

2. The natural woven rug adds a wonderful texture to this space.

3. Books add a welcoming feel as does the artwork, to me these things communicate welcome, history and personality.

4. The round coffee table and side table add soft lines that give some balance to the heavy use of rigid lines and square shapes.

Good design is in the thought given to the space, how the use of the space is executed, and the thoughtful curation of the items in the space. Good design should reflect the person that lives in the space because design is personal. Don't forget when you are designing that you don't live on a magazine page or in a prop house, you live in a home, design like it!
